Welcome to The Square

The Square, centrally located in the heart of beautiful downtown Corvallis, Oregon, was built in two phases between 1913 and the early 1920s. Originally the site of the City Livery, it has evolved into a dynamic hub that houses an eclectic mix of businesses and professionals dedicated to making a positive impact every day.


Now, in celebration of 111 years of success, the Square is being restored, updated, and upgraded with modern amenities. These enhancements cater to today’s business leaders, providing the community with a vibrant cornerstone where everyone feels proud to visit and be a part of.

About The Square

The Roots of Downtown Corvallis

Before Madison Square was built in 1913, on the site of 3rd and Madison stood the City Livery.  This was the first stopping place for visitors to house their horses in Corvallis. Today, the Square is still the first stop for many. The Square is home to 35 passionate busineses focused on helping others. From counselors to restaurants, the Square is home to some of Corvallis' most passionate and innovative change making businesses..

Honoring the Past

Built by the Hout family, and originally called the Hout building, in the roaring 20's this is where you came to find furniture and hardware - basic life necessities. Over the years, this fantastic building has proven to be resilient through good times and bad.

In 1981 the upstairs was completely refurbished by Michael Kleischmidt. At that time Michael did not know 40-years into the future the space he created would be home to twenty-five of Corvallis' most caring and creative businesses. In the last 20-years Hugh and Liz White worked diligently to provide creative businesses a place to thrive and serve other.
